Sun 02 Jun
An audiovisual collage about refugee journeys, featuring classical and contemporary music songs. In our story, a young person stuck in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, is reading what's left from an old diary: remembering/re-learning his/her own life
DETAILS

Metapraxis returns to Cafe OTO to celebrate their 10th birthday with an one-off EXTENDED performance of the Winter Journey project, accompanied by invited guest musicians and artists!

‘A young refugee on a boat stranded in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, is reading what's left from an old diary: remembering/re-learning his/her own life story.’

The Winter Journey is an audiovisual collage, taking place in a boat: parts of Schubert's Winterreise and notions from Beckett’s Krapp’s Last Tape tie a knot around refugee memories in their displacement travel to the unknown, and Winterreise-inspired artworks by artist Pip Woolf. Floating around them, you will find recently composed works (Christopher Fox, Scott McLaughlin, Naomi Pinnock and more) for vintage reel-to-reel tape machines, voices and instruments, and... mobile phones (YOU will also need one)!

As part of this project, we are fundraising for the refugee-supporting charities THREE PEAS, Big Leaf Foundation and Hay, Brecon & Talgarth Sanctuary for Refugees.
