Billy Bibby & The Wry Smiles to play Blackfest VII in Doncaster, Saturday, August 20th
Billy Bibby & The Wry Smiles, the new musical project of former and founding lead guitarist of Catfish and the Bottlemen, return to The Blacksmiths Arms in Harworth as part of Blackfest VII's 15-band lineup that includes bands such as Sabella, The Barmines, Scarlet, The Kavaliers, New York Tourists, and more.
With a major UK tour, over 30 live performances, recent festival appearances at Focus Wales, Dot to Dot Manchester, Pembs Fest, Kendal Calling, and Coastline Festival plus the release of their debut EP Bide Your Time behind them so far in 2016, Billy Bibby & The Wry Smiles have been winning over audiences everywhere with their energetic, optimistic, and tuneful rock. The group formed not long ago in the autumn of 2015, but Billy Bibby has surrounded himself with true professionals and brings the experience of 7 years of gigging and songcraft from his Catfish days to every show, and in every heartfelt tune he's written.
The setlist will include original songs, such as the recent single 'Are You Ready?' that has received radio play on BBC Introducing Wales, Radio X, Voice FM, Amazing Radio, and select indie stations throughout the UK and abroad as well as a recent feature in NME. Join Billy and the band for an evening of great tunes and stellar musicianship.
Billy Bibby & The Wry Smiles are Billy Bibby/lead vocals and guitar, Rob Jones/lead guitar and vocals, Matt Thomas/bass and vocals, and Mike Pearce on drums. Their debut EP, Bide Your Time, and new single 'Are You Ready?' are available digitally on all major platforms. Physical CDs will be available for purchase at the show.
Festival passes are £12.50 and are available from The Blacksmiths Arms, Maxines Florist, Ellie's Hairrooms and Bridgitte's Barbers, or message the Blackfest or Ginger Beard Promotions Facebook or Twitter page. Ticket proceeds help fund Help for Heroes, a charity providing support to military personnel and veterans who have suffered injury or illness in service to the nation.
