The Ian Gow Cup is a school public speaking competition set up in the memory of the town’s former MP Ian Gow, marking the 25th anniversary year since his death in 1990 .
The event, organised by present MP Caroline Ansell and all seven local secondary schools, will welcome journalist and broadcaster David Dimbleby as a judge.
David and Caroline will present the winning team with the cup and all the other teams with a participation certificate. The winning team also gets the opportunity to visit Caroline in Parliament.
The schools taking part are: Bishop Bell, Causeway, Eastbourne Academy, Ratton, Cavendish, Willingdon and Gildredge House.
The competition is taking place in the Gold Room of the Winter Garden on 24th November starting at 5pm. All are welcome to attend and the event is free of charge.
